A few thoughts about effective consensus building.
Untitled Poem
Consensus building can be taught:
Assume that you’ve misunderstood.
Never knock another’s thought
until you see why it is good.
Explain the good before the bad
when sharing plans you might reject,
and show (and feel) that you are sad
that it will fail (so you expect).
Listen closely one-on-one
Then amplify when with the rest.
Don’t let deadlines say you’re done:
Keep on talking ’til it’s best.
With these tips, by trial earned,
Consensus building can be learned.
